AWWA Provides Certificates of Completion

Earn continuing education hours at ACE! Whether you are an engineer collecting PDHs, an operator needing CEUs, or simply require proof of attendance, ALL attendees can earn AWWA Certificates of Completion by scanning in and out of educational sessions. These Certificates can then be downloaded from your AWWA account in July. In addition, we’ve taken extra steps specifically for licensed operators—please see the Operator section below.

Remember: All approvals are at the discretion of your licensing agency, and every state/province is different – so be sure to check first! ACE is an excellent learning opportunity for all our attendees, no matter your water profession. Elevate your journey while supporting a brighter future for you and our water resources.

Are You a Licensed Water Operator?

If you are a licensed water operator, this section is for you! AWWA is applying for pre-approval from many state and provincial operator agencies for ACE25. See the status of your state here.

Important—your agency has the final say in the issuance of CEUs. Attendees must check with their specific agency to determine if they will accept AWWA Certificates of Completion. Every state and province is different!

Common CEU & PDH Conversions

States and Provinces use all sorts of different abbreviations and nomenclature to address continuing education for water sector professionals. The unit will vary for each state, each profession, and every agency. Please become familiar with your own unique situation.

Here are some of the most common ways to represent “1 Hour”:

ONE HOUR =

1 PDH – Professional Development Hour

0.1 CEU – Continuing Education Unit*

1 CEH – Continuing Education Hour

1 CEC – Continuing Education Credit

0.1 TU – Training Unit

1 TCH – Training Contact Hour

1 TC – Training Credit

1 TH – Training Hour

*AWWA Certificates of Completion will be represented in CEU.

How Many Operator CEUs Can I Earn?

If you sit in every possible session period, including a paid pre-conference workshop, it is possible to achieve up to 23.0 hours. Most attendees earn between 1-15 hours — it just depends on you! Some state operator agencies set a lower maximum that can be earned at any one single event – these cases are noted in the list of states above.

Approval Disclaimer

All approvals are at the discretion of your licensing agency, and every state/province is different. Please note that a Certificate of Completion does not guarantee that your agency will award you credit. It is the individual’s responsibility, before registering for any education program, to contact the appropriate licensing agency: 1. To confirm that the education program is acceptable for continuing education credit towards your particular license; and 2. To confirm what you need to submit for credit approval. You must contact your specific licensing agency for details.

AWWA Recommends
  • Contact the agency 30 days prior to attending training
  • Ask your agency about its relevancy criteria
  • Ask your agency if the training format is approved (in-person vs online or other)
  • Find out what you need to do in order to receive credit
  • Find out whether you must submit an application prior to attending or submit handouts, etc., after training
  • Learn more about continuing education at www.awwa.org/credits
